Maharajas' Express - Luxury Train of India

Train travel has been a predominant means of travel for much of the 19th and 20th century. While other modes of transport viz airplanes, have gained prominence since the popularity of low cost airlines, it's fortunate, that the clickety trains still abound, in many places on the planet. From local, slow trains to the super-fast shinkansen bullet trains of Japan, trains still transport the most number of people in sheer numbers.

While trains have been a mode of mass transportation, there are, of course, a different league of trains that offer luxury on wheels! The Maharajas' Express of India is one such, and it's an experience like no other for the lucky who can avail it.

See a gallery of pictures of the train here and here.

In a nutshell, the luxury experience includes -
  • A discovery of India with five royal trips: The Heritage of India, (7 nights/8days), Treasures of India (3N/4D), Gems of India, Indian Panaroma(7N/8D) and Indian Splendor (7N/8D),
